i lost track of when i last posted a post in this blog. and i think it's going to be a long time till anyone even realises i've posted something since i doubt anyone even checks this anymore.. but i suddenly felt like blogging.. don't know how long this is going to last.. i wouldn't hold my breath if i were you.. ;)
and since this whole blog's template itself is about rafa, i thought it fitting to include this dashing -if i do say so myself- picture of him and the beautiful cup-that-everyone-covets. i think the final last sunday was the best tennis that has graced tv screens for a long time, but i was too busy praying to appreciate it. the worst part was the rain delays. i put an alarm in my phone and snoozed every 10 mins to make sure i was awake when play resumed. ingenious, isn't it?
i am glad i didn't die during the final. before the match started, when they were warming up and all, i think i felt more nervous than fed and nad combined. and surely during the match, my heart rate was more than theirs, even though they were doing vigorous exercise. hey, heightened emotions and stress cause increase in heart rate too!
and now i REALLY WANT TO VISIT LONDON. with its architecture, and the cobblestoned footpaths, and the fashion (black everything except a gorgeous scarf) and of course visiting the now sacred lawns of SW19.
to this day, i don't understand why out of the 4 grand slams, wimbledon is the one that every player covets. i just don't get it. after 4 french open trophies, nadal wanted a wimbledon trophy the most. and everyone just talks about the tradition etc etc.. but i still dont get it.. what is the big lure behind wimbledon?
i think i've been able to appreciate tennis, how difficult it is to hit certain shots, etc, much more this year, cos i actually tried playing. i shall not go into the details of that, but let's just say serving is much much harder than they make it look.
i didn't bet on anyone in this year's final, but i thought the match would end in 4 sets. i didn't think it could top last year's final. how wrong i was.
i'm already looking forward to next year's wimbledon final.
