hierarchy. we think it only exists in the royal family, but if we look closely, hierarchy exists EVERYWHERE. of course in the animal kingdom there is hierarchy, the meat eaters overpowering the herbivores. there is hierarchy in the office. but there is also always hierarchy among friends.
when i was in primary school, everyone used to flaunt hierarchy among friends. what better way than to do so with the help of the autograph book. when u wrote in someone else's autograph book, u wud write all your particulars, then your "faves". under faves, there was a heading called friends. then under that, you'd divide all your friends into "bestest best", "best", "good", etc. and the one whose name that came under bestest best most number of times was the most popular, everyone else hated him/her cos they wanted to be him/her.
but now that we think we're all grown up, heirarchy becomes more subtle. it is considered crass by some to even use the words "best friend"- how juvenile it sounds. no, now we tell everyone else words like "really really good friend", but the person we're fooling is only ourselves, and if your listener is really slow on the uptake, perhaps he would be fooled too.
so how then do we figure out hierarchy in adults? a simple way exists, but you need a friend with a car and an occasion where that friend is going to drive some other friends around. now observe carefully, who sits where? usually it is the person who is closest to the driver who gets the passenger seat. of course there are exceptions to this rule: if one friend has a phobia of sitting in front, if the spouse/gf/bf of the driver is one of the passengers, if one person is getting off before the other, if one person just happened to reach the car first and open the passenger side door.....
of course, if you want to avoid this kind of politics, get your own car, mister!

i lost track of when i last posted a post in this blog. and i think it's going to be a long time till anyone even realises i've posted something since i doubt anyone even checks this anymore.. but i suddenly felt like blogging.. don't know how long this is going to last.. i wouldn't hold my breath if i were you.. ;)
and since this whole blog's template itself is about rafa, i thought it fitting to include this dashing -if i do say so myself- picture of him and the beautiful cup-that-everyone-covets. i think the final last sunday was the best tennis that has graced tv screens for a long time, but i was too busy praying to appreciate it. the worst part was the rain delays. i put an alarm in my phone and snoozed every 10 mins to make sure i was awake when play resumed. ingenious, isn't it?
i am glad i didn't die during the final. before the match started, when they were warming up and all, i think i felt more nervous than fed and nad combined. and surely during the match, my heart rate was more than theirs, even though they were doing vigorous exercise. hey, heightened emotions and stress cause increase in heart rate too!
and now i REALLY WANT TO VISIT LONDON. with its architecture, and the cobblestoned footpaths, and the fashion (black everything except a gorgeous scarf) and of course visiting the now sacred lawns of SW19.
to this day, i don't understand why out of the 4 grand slams, wimbledon is the one that every player covets. i just don't get it. after 4 french open trophies, nadal wanted a wimbledon trophy the most. and everyone just talks about the tradition etc etc.. but i still dont get it.. what is the big lure behind wimbledon?
i think i've been able to appreciate tennis, how difficult it is to hit certain shots, etc, much more this year, cos i actually tried playing. i shall not go into the details of that, but let's just say serving is much much harder than they make it look.
i didn't bet on anyone in this year's final, but i thought the match would end in 4 sets. i didn't think it could top last year's final. how wrong i was.
i'm already looking forward to next year's wimbledon final.

hahaha this post is to prove to mai that i updated before her!
i had a great time yday. feeling majorly guilty now for LBD-ing/FACEBOOK-ing/PP-ing/GA-ing/DH-ing and MONK-ing my week away. not to mention UGLY BETTY-ing. worse than being pissed off at others is being pissed off at yourself.
i just hope i do well enough to deserve the enjoyment that i've planned after eos.
and i think i have now cultivated a love-hate relationship with shonda rhymes. right now my shondamood is major hate cos it's all her fault that her freaking shows are so freaking addictive that i have to watch them NOW.
and i would also like to blame shah rukh khan, for no matter how cocky he seems at award shows (recall him being nominated for best actor for 2 movies, and he won one and goes "which movie have i won for?" or smth along those lines) his movies (well most of them) are so hard to resist watching when it comes on a lazy sunday afternoon when you're supposed to be STUDYING.
i watched sa re ga ma pa as well. i was rooting for amanat but oh well. himesh reshammiya is SO IRRITATING!!! omg. no one should ever give him the damn mike, he can't stop talking.
some people never learn.
